A Journey in Grace

      By: Richard Belcher

I first read this book as a student of Dr. Belcher at Columbia Bible College. It was a tremendous blessing to both myself and my wife as it helped to explain the Doctrines of Grace in a simple and readable, yet thorough manner.

Since that time I have seen the Lord use this book - and the rest of the Journey series - to strengthen the theology and walk of many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Exegetical Fallacies
      By: D.A. Carson

This book is a must read for the serious Bible student. In it Carson does a thorough, yet succinct, job of dealing with common errors in bible interpretation. There are chapters covering word-study fallacies, grammatical fallacies, logical fallacies, and presuppositional and historical fallacies. Although the chapter on grammatical fallacies requires some working knowledge of Hebrew and Greek, the other chapters do not. So, even with no knowledge of Hebrew or Greek, the book is well worth the price.

Religious Affections

John Piper lists this book as one of the most influential ones in his own life and ministry and says "read Religious Affections, at all costs read Religious Affections! And anything else you can get your hands on by this great saint."

I couldn't agree more.

Systematic Theology
     An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine
      By: Wayne Grudem

This is my favorite contemporary systematic theology text. In fact, it may be my favorite all-time.

Grudem writes from a Reformed Baptist perspective, but he also adheres to a Continuationist approach to the gifts of the Spirit. It is Biblical, thorough, and scholarly, but is very readable as well. Highly recommended!

The Forgotten Trinity
      By: James R. White

"The Trinity is a doctrine where error is especially deadly. James White superbly establishes the biblical basis of trinitarianism, examining its nuances and its place in church history. His lucid presentation will help layperson and pastor alike. Highly recommended." - Dr. John MacAurthur, Senior Pastor, Grace Community Church, Speaker, Grace to you.

I agree with John's assessment and consider this book the best single volume I have ever read on this crucial doctrine. It is a model of sound, orthodox exegesis and theology. And, as usual, James White is very good at putting the cookies on the bottom shelf where we can all reach them! It is a must read.
